What do George Foreman grills, the PlayStation, and the Fairtrade Mark all have in common?

The answer is - they’re all celebrating turning 30 this year!

This weekend marks the end of Fairtrade Fortnight, and it’s been a significant event – celebrating 30 years of the Fairtrade Mark.

It’s an anniversary which is important to us, as two years before, a group of staff from Traidcraft Exchange (as we were called back then) sat in a room with a collection of the major players in the ethical trade movement.

Out of that group came the concept of the Fairtrade Mark as we know it - and the Fairtrade Foundation was born.

30 years on, and this Fairtrade Fortnight, we’re celebrating:

That millions of farmers benefit from fair trade.

  • That the Fairtrade mark is known across the UK as a signifier of fairer wages and higher standards.

  • That after 30 years, the trade justice movement still going strong- and constantly evolving.

But we want to take this opportunity to not just to celebrate fair trade fortnight, but to celebrate you.

Because without the support of amazing people passionate about justice in trade, the last 30 years wouldn’t have happened.

Thank you for continuing to support inspirational producers, and being part of a movement of millions who continue to fight for a world where all trade is fair – standing with producers across the world.

Taking the Traidcraft legacy into the future

We’re also thinking about another anniversary - it’s just over a year since Transform Trade was officially asked to carry on the legacy of Traidcraft – a pioneer of fair trade.

To share with you our progress so far

Traidcraft tea is benefitting small tea growers, and is 100% Fairtrade certified and the leaves are sourced from smallholder farmers in Kenya - plus every pack includes a donation which supports Transform Trade’s work.
