Sadhna began with just 15 employees - making clothing and textile products in Udaipur, India.
Today they provide fair and safe work for over 700 women from marginalized backgrounds. But despite this growth, their future is far from certain.
They are working against the odds to open up new markets and support the many hundreds of families who rely on earning a fair wage through Sadhna.
“We want to increase the amount of women's groups and their training. Women are then not dependent on men's money when there is a crisis. They can spend for themselves. I did the same, I spent on my child's education.”
— Sangeeta Loha, Stitching Supervisor, Sadhna
3 long term goals
To open up new domestic markets to grow their impact.
To invest in recycled and zero waste textile products.
To provide safe jobs for women living in disadvantaged communities.
“When you support Sadhna you’re supporting women like me becoming independent. When a woman is earning, she can improve her family and the whole community develops. Women in this community have a steady income from Sadhna. This is the best form of employment in my community.”
Bindu Yadav, artisan
A year of sponsorship for Sadhna could allow them to…
Reduce textile waste
Sadhna plans to train artisans in zero-waste construction techniques to create a new range of clothing made from recycled textiles, which would otherwise be wasted.
Reach more customers
By investing in online promotions to new customers across India, Sadhna can increase their sales, and potentially support more artisans in the future.
Help artisans become financially independent
Sadhna funds outreach programmes for women artisans, so they can open their bank accounts in their own names, as well as access basic social security programmes like pensions.
