FAQs on Traidcraft closing
-
As a long term partner of Traidcraft PLC we are deeply saddened by the recent news. As a legally and financially separate organisation, we are well positioned to continue fighting for trade justice, in partnership with collectives of growers and artisans around the world.
The work of Transform Trade will continue as usual.
There is a financial impact of Traidcraft closing but it doesn’t represent a huge risk to our future operations. We are already seeking new partnerships and opportunities to increase the scope and impact of our work.
-
Any regular payment you make to Transform Trade (or Traidcraft Exchange) does not need to be changed or redirected as a result of this news. Transform Trade continues to support producers, artisans and workers to fight for a fairer deal. Your donations are more important than ever to help us continue the fight for trade justice long into the future.

Unlike Traidcraft, Transform Trade is not a business but a charity - our mission is not to sell products, but to challenge injustice.
We will be selling a charity Christmas card range for the first time ever this year - ready in plenty of time for the 2023 Christmas season. More on this to be revealed in due course. We also continue to sell charity gift cards as part of our fundraising efforts.
As yet we have no plans to sell other products.
-
No, we are not taking over Traidcraft. Instead, as a charity, we are committed to fighting for people centred trade through campaigning and partnering with producer groups all over the world.
-
There are so many ways you can continue to fight for trade justice through supporting Transform Trade.
Whether holding a Big Brew, taking part in campaigns, fundraising, donating or signing up to our email list, everything you do will support farmers, artisans and producers to demand decent working conditions and fair reward for their hard work.
-
As a seperate organisation, Transform Trade is not involved with Traidcraft’s current relationships with suppliers.
Over the years, Traidcraft did incredible work with smaller producer groups - helping them find a route to markets where no one else could. We're working on plans to expand our work at Transform Trade to support more small groups of workers and artisans, like those Traidcraft was originally set up to help, in new ways - with a focus on local markets, rather than international sales.
We’ll be sharing details of an appeal soon.

They are very much still going! We will be holding Big Brew events to support Transform Trade in Fairtrade Fortnight as usual, and we’d love your support.
If you’ve held a Big Brew in the past few years, a pack will be on its way to you soon, or you can order one here. You can buy alternative fair trade products from the supplier of your choice.
